Taylor Smith

Vocal, Piano Teacher

I have tried many hobbies and music has always been my favorite! I have been involved in choir for as long as I can remember! I started singing around 6 years old and have been ever since. I started taking lessons around 10 and became involved in community theatre around 14. I have performed in many shows including The Little Mermaid, Pirates of Penzance, and my personal favorite…Curtains! I fell in love with Italian arias when I was 16 and would love to teach you as well!
I auditioned for Southern Utah University when I was 17 and was given an academic scholarship! I am currently a Music Education major and I am excited to teach all of the new techniques I have learned so far and that I am currently learning! As the music world becomes more competitive, I am hoping that my fresh and upcoming knowledge will help everyone become a better performer! I believe anyone can sing as long as they try! I began to play piano around the age of 12 and have learned new strategies through my classes at SUU. Throughout my many different voice teachers, I have learned the best and most effective tactics for singing. I also have many strategies to help with stage fright. I have had good and bad teachers and I am looking to work closely with my students to ensure that I am teaching them the correct way to hone their personal skills.
I am all the way from Temecula, California! I have lived in Cedar City, Utah for a while now and I am very excited to come full circle with my dream to teach! Back home, I have a golden retriever who is full of personality! I enjoy the outdoors and learning to play new instruments at every opportunity. Over the years I have played many sports! My favorite is archery! I was even a part of the Junior Olympic Archery team in my town! I have performed in many solos, duets, trios, and ensembles. I have also experienced many different auditions and can help you start navigating your musical life! I am prepared to teach you everything that I know! I am very excited to work with you!
